THE BALES FAMILY GENEALOGYWe are searching for information about the BALES/BAILES family. The first record we have is the appearance of Russel BAILES on the 1820 Census in Gallatin County, KY. After that in around 1850, he and his wife Mary Ann GOINS BAILES settled in Lee County, IA where he died in 1856. They had several children, on of which was Harrison BAILES/BALES who was the father of William BAILES/BALES who eventually settled in Switzerland County, IN and married Lucy MC CREARY in 1888.We are searching for any information on this line, especially interested in information about Russel BAILES' parents and the whereabouts of Simon Lee BALES/BAYLES b. 1894 in Switzerland County, IN and who married Marie Frick in 1918 in Indianapolis, IN -- they were my grandparents. We look forward to hearing from our Bales/Bayles cousins.THE HAZLETT/HAZELETT FAMILY GENEALOGYWe are also researching the HAZLETT/HAZELETT family. It is believed this family came from Londonderry, Ireland around 1750 and settled in Lancaster, PA. They then settled in KY for a few years, and at that time Samuel HAZLETT came to Putnam County, IN and married Nancy MILLAR. One of the sons of Samuel and Nancy was Richard Mordecai HAZELETT who was a well-known farmer and builder in the Putnam County area for many years. Another of their children was named James Z. HAZLETT, who had a son named William Jefferson HAZLETT. William J. settled in Morgan County, IN and married Elma PATRICK in 1888. They had a son named Roy Madison HAZLETT who was my grandfather. The HAZLETT family has a rich and interesting history. I have met many HAZLETT cousins in the past few years, thanks to the internet and am looking forward to finding many more!
