The Hewes and Woodruff Families

This research includes ancestors and descentents of George Robert Twelve Hewes- a participant in the Boston Tea Party- and the same for John Woodruff who landed in Lynn, Mass. in 1639. Known decendents of GRT Hewes includes the names Morrison,Rhodes, Stevenson, and Walker. Descendents of John Woodruff include Wofford, Price, Bobo and Golden. Other names of note are: Dickerson and Jesse Green. These folks are from my maternal grandfathers line and stretches from Virginia and West Virginia through Ohio and into Minnesota and South Dakota. On the Woodruff side of our research, these ancestors started in Mass. and went from there to New Jersey and thence to the Carolinas and Miss. and finally to Texas.

I have George R.T. Hewes s the son of George Hewes and Abigail Sever. His father was Solomon Hewes and his mother was Mary Callef. Solomon was the son of George Hewes and Mary Allen. This George was the son of Christopher Hewes who was born in England in 1620. His son was born in Salisbury, Mass. in 1642.
