THE HOUSE FAMILY HOME PAGE

Members of the House family have lived in Mississippi and are African-American. My great-great Grandfather was Thomas House,
who was married, during the Reconstruction Era to Ida "Sweet
Rose", a member of the Choctaw Nation. My great-grandfather was
Daniel W. House, who married Cora Lee Tackett. They lived in
Pickens, MS in Holmes County.

Their son, Walter Walker House, Sr. was my grandfather.
He married Gladys Stuart. They met at Alcorn College in MS. They
lived in Detroit, MI. Grandmother's parents were Claude Blount
Stuart, Jr. and Sarah (Rollins) Stuart. My great-great grandfather was Claude
Blount Stuart, Sr. (a Scotsman) married to Henrietta (Stampley)
Stuart. The Stuart line lived in Rodney, MS.

My father was Dr. Walter W. House, Jr. My mother is Marjorie
Norma (Settles) House, now Marjorie Washington. Her father was
Rufus Settles of Jasper, TN and her mother, Betty Ann (Greer)
Settles was from Shellmound,TN (now underwater at Nickajack Lake)
and the daughter of Alfred and Rachel (Burnett) Greer. This line
of the family traces its roots to the Cherokee Nation.

I have a brother Walter W. House III and his sons are Walter W.
House IV and Sean Everett House, of Columbus, Ohio.

My only son Uri Stuart House and his mother Prof. Gloria
(Larry) House live in Detroit, MI.
