Charles L. Poole was born and raised on a farm in Union Co., Ark. He studied Law under one of the leading lawyers at the county seat while he was still helping his father operate the home farm. At the age of 23 years he moved to Calhoun Co., Ark. and there resumed his law studies being admitted the bar some years later. He served 3 consecutive terms in the Arkansas Legislature, House Of Representatives. He was a member of Hampton Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons and Fordyce Chapter, Royal Arch Masons. He was a past Commander of the local Council, Woodmen of the World and a member of Lodge No. 1140 of Camden, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Also the local lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a Democrat and of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
