Clyde's original British & Scots immigrant ancestors arrived in the British colony of Massechusetts before 1638. "He was one of the signers to petition the General Court in 1656 for the grant of lands in Marlborough and was the first settler there and was the first white inhabitant of the town. He came to the place as early as 1657 - 1658 and built a cabin a little east o f the Indian planting field, about one-third of a mile northeasterly of Spring Hill Meetin g House, where the late Edward Rice resided."

Barbara's ancestors were among the earliest Spanish settlers of the colony of New Spain. They were among the explorers who discovered, colonized and settled Baja and Alta California as well as the earliest settlements of San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Among the most prominent was Jose Antonio Carrillo, Alcalde of Los Angeles and eldest delegate to the California Constitutional Convention of 1849, held at Monterey, California. Her great-grand aunt Maria Ignacía Lopez Carillo was married to General Mariano G. Vallejo. Vallejo was also a delegate to the California Constitutional Convention.
