| I am still researchng for members of William A. LAMERE, LEMER or LAMERES descendants in the U.S. and for his Mother, Charlotte, and Father, Theodore, in Canada, and other members of the family. I don't know how the last name was spelled in Canada, but it is believed to be LEMIRE. William A. LAMERE was born April 12, 1826? or 1831 in Nicolet County, Canada. He migrated to Joliet, Illinois between 1848-1850. Married Julia GARDINER in Illinois. Three of their children were born in Illinois, William O. 1857, Margaret 1859,Joseph 1861. William moved to WI around 1865 and lived in Octagamie County until he died in 1894 at his farm near Shiocton. Children born in WI were Adeline or Adelaide 1867?, John 1868?, Addie 1869? and Agnes 1871?,Harry 1881. William married Lucinda Baker Cooper 17 months after Julia died. Harry was Willam's and Lucinda's child. Lucinda and Harry moved to Longrum, Ozark County MO shortley after Willam died. Obituary said only four children were living when William died--William O., Madames John M. Phillips (Addie), Ira Levi Holmes (Margaret) and Harry. I don't know the names of the three missing children. They could have died at birth or? I would like to find descendants of the other children. Addie was living in Marinette, County of Marinette in 1907, and Margaret was living in Suring Oconta County in 1907. William O. married Ida May HOGABOOM in Black Creek, Outagamie Wisconsin. They had seven children. Willam O. and his sons moved to Golden Valley, North Dakota in the early part of 1900. I assume Harry was still living in MO. NOTE: William O. La Mere added a "s" on the end of the La Mere name. I would appreciate any and all help. |
