The Cornwell Family dates back to arrival of William Cornwell, Jr.,
aka "Sgt., at Roxbury in 1633. He was one of the Founders of Hartford in 1636 and Middletown in 1650. He served under Major
Mason during the attack on the Pequot Fort at Mystic in 1637. He
married Mary "Little Dove" Hyanno in a Wampanoag Village in 1639.
His descendant Isaac Cornwell, of Middletown, served in Major Sheldons' CT Light Horse Regiment, Captain Butlers' Company, as Washingtons' Mounted Escort, during the Revolutionary War.
The Howe Family dates back to Abraham Howe who married Hannah
Ward at Marlborough, MA in 1657. He served in Milita during
King Phillips" War. His descendant Zadok Howe was a Minuteman
at Lexington-Concord and served as a 1st Lt., on Washingtons' Staff for 5 years during the Revolutionary War. In the early 1800s' the Cornwell and Howe families removed to the St. Lawrence River Valley in New York State and settled in Jefferson County. Their descendants are eligible for Membership in the Order of the
Founders and Patriots of America, the Society of Colonial Wars,
the Society of Middletown First Settlers Descendants, the
Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revoultion, the
