Find Family
THE HIDDEN BEAUTY OF GENEALOGY RESEARCH

Being new at this, I'm having to learn from the ground up. One thing I have been hesitant about is calling people I do not know and asking them about their family history. I have envisioned being cursed, hung up on, yelled at, or worse.

Thank God I have an internet genealogy buddy, Dot, who is most encouraging to a newbie like myself, and with her experience, prodding, suggestions and support, I recently made one of those calls that had to be made that I had dreaded because I didn't know what I would say.

Now, all I can say is I no longer have this fear. After contacting someone who had posted a lot of my GREER information online, I found out from her husband that she had passed away just a short time ago. I didn't know what to say!! But I couldn't just hang up, so I told him what wonderful work she did, how she included personal glimpses into my relatives' lives in her files she posted, not just names and dates, and how this opened my eyes up to who these people were that I had never known.

We talked for hours. He was so helpful, so happy to know his wife had touched other lives like this, and was saddened by the fact that all her work had ceased and that no one would be furthering it. I promised him that I would credit her for everything she did, and to honor her hard work with the credit she deserves. She had a passion for genealogy, not for money. She freely shared her works with others, never caring to garner the credit. She embodied the term "genealogist".

This site is dedicated to the memory and hard work of

JUDITH BORING
A Beacon of Light
A Laborer of Love
In a world filled with darkness
She shines

and to the honor of her husband

RANDY BORING
The Lighthouse Keeper

We all should be so fortunate to love and be loved in return so completely as Judith and Randy. Through Randy, Judith and her hard work as a genealogist live on.

BROKEN FAMILY TREE BRANCH ALERT!!!

In spite of my recent efforts, I am unable to connect my family tree to any other Greers (past Benjamin Giles Greer b. 1823) definitively. If you are able to help, I would LOVE to hear from you!

I am new at Genealogy, but have quickly become obsessed with it. I am also the new family holder of heirloom pictures, so I am anxious to place them on a tree so that I can complete their rightful lineage.

I am searching for family reunion information, would love to be active in a Greer organization, and will happily share any info I have!

I respect the rights of others' research, so I will not post from anyone else's work knowingly. I will immediately remove any incorrect information when notified, and will keep any shared information private if asked to do so.

I have NO intention of writing a book, posting false information, or taking credit for others' works. If you see a connection with my tree and yours, and you wish to share it privately, you can rest assured that it will not be made public without your written consent. I take full responsibility for the information on my site only, and I am working to verify information. There are living branches of this tree that will not be posted for the sake of privacy.

I DO intend to complete my family tree, have fun, share with others, and post old pictures as I go through them and identify them. Occasionally, I may post an old picture to be identified. Please feel free to take a guess or solve the mystery!

Many people work very hard at their own expense to publish family genealogy, and I would like to thank them for their selfless work, ensuring that future generations will know their roots!
