| I am researching my family history on my grandfather Theodore Roosevelt Welch born on February 2,1902 in Wayne, Nebraska and died on December 31,1982 in Ekalaka, MT. He married Eileen Anna Pickens June 1925 in Baker, MT. Eileen was born July 30,1908 in Letart, WV, and died April 19,1992 in Ekalaka, MT. Theodore is the son of Charles Samuel Welch born 1860 in Galva, Illinois and he married Mary Helen/Ellen McRae who was born March 15,1862 in Isle of Skye, Scotland. Mary Helen's parents were Andrew McRae and Marion McLeod. Charles Samuel's parents were Andrew Jackson Welch and Permelia Camp. My grandmother Eileen Anna Pickens father was William Riley Pickens born February 22,1875 in Letart, WV and died March 24,1970 in Montana. William's parents were James Perry Pickens born 1840 and died June 1914, and Mary Catherine Rickard born November 19,1845 and died February 27,1908/09. My grandmother Eileen Anna Pickens mother was Cora Pearl Riley born March 6,1889 in Parkersburg, WV and died March 14,1967 in Ekalaka, MT. William and Cora were married on June 30,1904 in Letart, WV. My great grandmother Cora's parents were Peter Riley and Annie Valentine Elliott. Annie Elliott had a son about 4 years older than Cora and his name was Van Ermor Brown born September 16,1885 and died December 28,1972. Van's father was Van B. Brown born 1858, and his parents were William and Elizabeth Brown. Van B. Brown and Annie were never married. I don't know how many years Annie stayed with or married to Peter Riley, but when Annie took Cora and left Peter, she met Charles Mooney. Charles Mooney and Annie "Elliott" Riley had two children, Franklin and Ila Mooney. Ila drowned at age 17, 1911, in the Ohio River along with another girl. The newspaper clipping said that Ila was trying to save this other girl. Franklin Mooney married Fannie Dornan and they had five children named Van Austin, Charles Franklin, Clyde, Georgia, and Ralph Dean Mooney. Peter Riley's father was Francis Marion Riley born December 11,1841 and died October 20,1926 in Middleport, Ohio. Francis married Adaline Blankenship and had four children named George, Martha, Patrick, and Peter Riley. On the 1880 census though, there was also listed a Robert Riley, age 12. Francis and Adaline divorced, then Francis married Virginia Harris, and they had six children named Nellie, Ella, Elnora, John, Harry, and Lottie Riley. Annie Elliott's parents were Joseph and Mary Amanda "Alley" Elliott. Joseph Elliott's parents were William and Mary Elliot, both born in Pennsylvania. I do know that Mary Amanda married a William Woods in 1912 and its noted that this is 14 years after Joseph died. Mary Amanda's parents were Simon Alley and Elizabeth Booth, both born in Virginia. I don't have any information on Charles Mooney except that he died in Athens, Ohio and at the time he was in a state hospital for being ill/unstable. I also know that he didn't like the name Annie, so he always called Annie by the name Alice. Annie just changed her name to Alice Mooney, and thats how it appeared on her death certificate. My mother Margaret Lou Fowlkes was born October 20,1936. Her father was Forrest Fowlkes, Sr. born April 24,1886 in Boonesboro, Missouri and died June 4,1960 in Billings, MT. Forrest was married 4 times. His first marriage was to Annie Ethel Skinner and they had 5 children together. His second wife was Charotte DeTuncq/no children. Forrest's third wife was to Tress/last name unknown/no children. Forrest then married Ruby Irene Lee on December 21,1928 and they had 6 children. Ruby was my grandmother whom I remember meeting twice as a child. I never met my grandfather Forrest, nor my great grandparents. Forrest Fowlkes, Sr. parents were Columbus F. Fowlkes and Nancy Andrews. Ruby Irene Lee's parents were Thomas Ernest Lee and Nellie Essie Williams. Please contact me if you have any additional information or questions. |
