ENRY JOHN FARRIS:
.
When the boys were growing up they use to go to town and there was a curfew that they were to follow, but boys will be boys. So Henry had an idea to make sure that they came home. So this is how Henry and his friend Mike Sweeny who owned a gas station in Spring Green, Wisconsin, got them to come home since they were to be home by nine o"clock, curfew time there in town. Two of Nettie and Henry's boys seem to like to stay later then they should and run all over town. So Henry and Mike came up with the idea that there was a black panther that had escaped from the Madison Zoo and everyone should be in before dark. This had worked for awhile, but then it got around and different towns had wondered where this panther had come from. The Madison Zoo had been called to see if in fact there was a black panther on the loose. The story came out in the Madison Newspaper, and the Spring Green Home News. The story goes that there had been a black panther that did in fact get loose, but at that time there had been a lairs contest going on and you might guess who won the contest. But it was a way to get the boys home during the weekdays.

Henry was always kidding or pulling things. One evening he had been outside and he knew just about the time that Marion's wife, would be coming out to go to the outhouse before bedtime. So that night he sat out in the bushes and when Katherine came out,he jumped out and scared the crap out of her you might say. From that time on she never went outside to the outhouse again. She bought a commode.

One of Henry's pastimes was to go fishing after he retired, and also make his rounds to the different places in town just to visit. If he didn't make it, the people would ask where he had been. He liked to watch wrestling on TV, until the Doctor told him not too as it got him all excited after he had his heart attack. Another thing he liked to do is read the newspaper from front to back. The most important thing was his grandchildren, he adored them all, he loved to tease them, and they'd come back for more.

Henry was a kind and loving man to be with, and he lived his life to the fullest. He died on 14 May 1978 at his son's home, Newville, Wisconsin. He died of a heart attack. He was buried in Cassell Prairie, Cemetery. He was in Carpenter, painter and worked in a factory.

ETTIE HOXIE and HENRY FARRIS:
The wedding announcement that appeared in the newspaper, I believe it was the Spring Green Newspaper, or from the area. This is how it was written...................

The wedding we thought to take place last week occurred in Spring Green, Wisconsin, this week Monday May 17, 1915. The contracting parties were Henry Farris, oldest of Marion Farris and Nettie Hoxie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas Hoxie of Wilson Creek. An informal reception and the ever present charivari were given them on Monday evening at the Farris home here. They will remain here for a few days and than go to Wilson Creek where the groom will work in a cheese factory.

.
Orville was a strong robust boy and was able to help much with the work around the farm, cultivating crops, etc. He enjoyed this work and took a lot of pride in doing well at his task assigned to him. He had a pleasing disposition and a great help to his father Henry. Orville made a brave fight for life and everything possible was done for him to no avail.

He was missed not only at home but also in the school as it was shown at the time of the funeral when the teacher and the children viewed the remains through the window, as the home was quarantined, each one passed by with tears of sorrow, showed how much he was missed. Orville had Scarlet fever.
