Angela Anne (Annie) Hubbard was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on March 4, 1998.Because her father, H Phillip Hubbard is a U.S. citizen and her mother, Angela Maria Nunez is Honduran, Annie maintains dual citizenship. As a direct result of worsening socio-economic conditions following Hurricane Mitch in October of 1998, the family emigrated from Honduras to Rockport TX, August 3, 1999. Annie's 5th great-grandfather was Peter Hubbard I of Caroline County VA, son of John Hubbard of Amelia Co.He married Agnes Chiles in public assembly of Friends Meeting Place on September 10, 1744.She was the daughter of Manoah Chiles of Caroline County and, a direct descendant of Walter Chiles (b: 20 Mar 1608), a qualifying ancestor for Jamestowne Society membership for descendants of original settlers of the first permanent English settlement in America. A Son, Peter II was born in South Carolina July 31, 1756.He enlisted as a private in the Revolutionary War in 1775 while residing in the Cheraw District of South Carolina. He served under Captain John Carroway and Captain Samuel Wise with Col. William Thompson. He engaged in the battle of Sullivan's Island and continued to serve various tours in the militia until the end of the war -- part time under Col. Hicks and later as a lieutenant under General Francis Marion. Peter II moved his family to Montgomery County, TN in 1803 and later, after the death of his wife, he relocated to the Greenville-Mulberry Grove area of Bond County IL, where he died in 1844. His tombstone inscription reads, "Sacred to the memory of Peter Hubbard who died August 26, 1844, aged 88 years and 25 days.He was a soldier of the American Revolution and by the side of the gallant Marion, fought many a hard battle for American independence. Here lies Hubbard, who Britton's arms withstood. Not for his own, but for his country's good -- Tho' Victor oft on famed Columbia's fields -- To death at last the aged hero yields."The government stone says:"Peter Hubbard Lieut. Wise's Co. 3rd S.C. Regmt. Rev War August 26, 1844." A "History of Bond County IL 1882," indicated that the family of Peter II is of Welsh ancestry. His 3rd great-grandfather, Robert Hubbard (b. 1602, London, Eng) is believed to have arrived with his family in Jamestown, Virginia around 1644 and died in James City VA in 1663.Robert's son, Matthew, born in Yorkshire England in 1627, married Sibella Caynhoo Ham on February 19, 1652 in New Kent County VA. William B Hubbard, the second of twelve children born to Peter II and his wife Mary Ann Odom, was born August 24, 1780 in South Carolina. He is the 3rd great-grandfather of Michael Brennan, Mark Phillip and Annie Hubbard.Their lineage continued on from William B Hubbard to Wiley B Hubbard (b.1813), Hiram Delbert Hubbard (b.1869), Harry Phelps Hubbard (b.1900) and H Phillip Hubbard (b.1937). While the first permanent settler is said to have come to the area that became the community of Greenville IL in 1815, William's brother Peter arrived in Bond County in March, 1817, after first emigrating to Randolph County in 1809 and then removing to Madison County IL. He was soon followed to Bond County by Philip in 1821, David in 1825 and finally, William and family emigrated from Montgomery County TN to the Mulberry Grove-Greenville area in 1839.That same year, Peter and Philip returned on horseback to Tennessee to bring their father, Peter II, to reside in Mulberry Grove until his death. The Hubbards are listed in Bond, Fayette and Madison county records as original owners of numerous farm properties. There was an original one-room school and there is a cemetery in Bond County named for the Hubbard family. Because of the abundance of information for Peter II's immendiate family, this project began in 1999 with a subscription to World Family Tree Project, Volume 14, Tree #1516 and culminated with an April, 2011 Jamestowne Society membership application.
