I know over 800 grandparents of one degree or another, but one of my shortest lines of descent is that of my own last name--HUDSON. My great-great-great-great grandfather died a HUDSON, but was born a HUTCHISON (Joseph, b. cir. 1756 in Loudon Cty., VA, died in Hardin Cty., KY in 1844). Details of his ancestry are what I seek the most.
Another, even shorter line is that of my mothers family--BROWN. We have traced back to a John Brown of Washington Cty., PA born around 1800, but can find no more of him (with a name like that, what can you expect??)

The bulk of the names in my family tree come from the ancestry of one William CLOPTON of New Kent Cty, VA. A book compiled with a wealth of detail back in the late 1930's was the "Mother Lode" for this family.

I hope that my tree can help you. Maybe yours can help me...
