Notes for Waters Burris Hurff: From Hurff Family-History and Genealogy of the Hurff Family Assoc. 1951. Waters was a farmer. Married and lived a while at Ellis's Corner. From the farm near Haddonfield he moved to the Davis Farm at Mt. Laurel about 1855 where he was a successful grower of sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and cantaloupes for the early market in Philadelphia, Pa. He attended the Methodist Church in Marlton which he helped to build. It is said it required 2 horses to pull the carriage through the sandy roads of those days, loaded as it was with 6 or 7 children. Sometimes a colt would run along with it's mother who was in the church going team. The farm meadow had been an Indian camp ground and a vast collection of Indian relics were picked up and preserved by the family. Indian graves are believed to have been on the banks of the creek.
