LAIRD, CHARLES H. On January 21, 2002, 'Chuck', age 80, of Tabernacle, formerly a long time resident of Haddon Twp., husband of the late Virginia (nee Evans). Survived by 4 children, Sheryl J. Reiley, of Westmont, Denise C. Hudson, of Tabernacle, Charles Evans Laird, of Gallaway and Barbara S. Davis, of Sicklerville, 12 grandchildren, Jeff, Tina, Greta, Jimmy, Crysta, Julianna, Jessica, Chris, Ashley, R.J., Janet and Eric and 2 great grandchildren, Paige and Billy. Family and friends are invited to Services, Friday, 1:30pm, at KAIN FUNERAL HOME, 8 W. Kings Hwy., Haddonfield; where friends may call after 11am. Interment, Locustwood Cem., Cherry Hill. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Laird's name to the Haddon Twp. Athletic Association, P.O. Box 103, Collingswood, NJ 08108. Mr. Laird coached baseball and football teams in Haddon Twp. for 30 years. He was a railroad engineer for 41 years. He also served in the Coast Guard during WWII and on a destroyer escort for 2 years. He later organized a reunion of fellow sailors and their ship, the USS Edwin Hurst. Mr. Laird was an avid hunter and fisherman, who belonged to the Long Beach Island Fishing Club, the Square Circle Fishing Club and the Rosedale Rod & Gun Club.
