Notes for Anna Catharina Günzler: [Evans, Virginia.ged]
Called Catharine rather than Catharina. On the strength of one listing in the 1796 Stephen's Phila. city directory as "Anna Catharine" and the fact that two of her children, Anna Maria and Daniel named daughters Anna Catharine rather than just Catharine as her other children had. Catharina's maiden name is spelled "Guenzler" in the St. Michael's section of "Penna. Marriages Prior to 1810" book at Gloucester County Historical Society. Also spellings of Günßler/Guntzler/Gantzler/Gunseler. Catharina was the sole sponsor to Johann and Elisabeth Hotz' daughter Margareta at her baptism on February 28, 1797, the same day her grandson Michael Lorenz was baptised as well, at St. Michael's & Zion Lutheran Church, Philadelphia. Catharina's name and age "19 years", is listed as #9 in the 1758 confirmations at St. Michael's Lutheran records and her sponsor is Johann Peter Dicks. Catharine was listed in the 1785, 1791 and 1796 Philadelphia Directories. Catharine's name also appeared in the Market holders list in 1794 page 14. She had Stall #37 which later became her son Daniel's. Her addresses in 1785 & 1791 put her home on and near present day Florist (South side between 3d & 4th) and 4th Streets (between Vine & Callowhill). 1790 census numbers are as follows: 1/1/3 (probably one of the older boys, Johannes or Johan Peter counted as a girl. Daniel/Catharine & Anna Maria. Elisabeth was already married.) In 1810 she was not living with either of her sons Peter or Daniel per the census.
Maria Dorothea Guntzlerin m. Johannes Greiffenstein on May 13, 1762. Witnesses: Joh. Martin Gantzler, Peter Dick & wife, Michael Hotz & wife and sisters and sisters-in-law. (This would seem to indicate Peter Dick's wife was an aunt or sister to Catharine and Dorothy.)
