Known as Mary, she probably waited until she was 26 years old to marry in order to help her mother raise her younger brothers and sisters. Even at that it didn't prevent her from having nine children, the last at the age of 44. Mary is not a head of household in the 1820 Census. Her funeral was held at the home of her son-in-law, Theodore Chapman on 8th Street below Coates. (Fairmount Ave) Her son Michael Lawrence, who would have attended her funeral, lived about 4 blocks due south of the Chapman's on Noble above 8th Street.
In the 1819 "30 Cents in a Hundred Dollars" Phila. tax rolls, Penn Township page 619 is listed "Widow Lawrence" who paid $17.10 on $5,700. This is Mary widow of Christian Lawrence.
