Includes NotesNotes for Dionysius Friderich Reimer:
[Evans, Virginia.ged]

Fritz Reimer is without a doubt a member of the Reimer family of Mutterstadt, Pfalz. He married a local girl there in 1715 at about the age of 22 years, which means he was probably living there at least a couple years before then. Time enough for him to become acquainted with the girl he would be courting. With the exception of a Joerg Blasius Reimer who married there on Feb. 13, 1720, (who may after all be related as well) there were no other unassociated Reimers found in Mutterstadt. Believe Fritz to be the son of Johann Jacob Reimer the elder as his burial record states he had 4 sons, but only two of them are accounted for in the Reformed Church baptismal records. Reimer family information was researched in 1992 by Dr. Burkhart Oertel of Munich, Germany for Helen E. McClammy of Mesquite, TX. Copies of pedigree were forwarded to James H. Lawrence by Bruce Koons of Houston, TX on June 5, 2003.

Per "Genealogical Magazine Volumes 1-39" Volume XX page 115 footnote 118: Frederick was an elder in the Falkner Swamp Reformed Church, and he and his family emigrated in 1730. From Rupp's "30,000 Names of Immigrants in Penna." pg 63, they came on the ship Thistle of Glasgow, Colin Dunlap master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes, arriving at Philadelphia on Aug. 29, 1730. Also in that book, pg 472, "Frederick Reymer" paid Quit Rent prior to 1734 on 100 acres of land in Frederick Township.

From: "Beans History of Montgomery County" (1884)
Frederick Reimer came from the Palatinate. He arrived in the ship "Thistle," and the declaration at Philadelphia on the 29th of August, 1730. On the 22d January, 1731, he purchased of Henry Pannybacker one hundred acres, and on the 6th of August, 1736, of Joseph Groff, forty-one acres, one hundred and six and a half perches, both tracts on Society Run. On the 29th of March, 1735, he was naturalized by act of Assembly. He died early in 1758. His wife's name was Elizabeth. Their children were:
Elizabeth
Salome, born April 15, 1719, in the Palatinate, married John Herger and died November 24, 1800
Susanna
Barbara
John Peter, married, November 28, 1752, Rachel Zieber

Catharina
Elizabeth, married, Solomon Grimley.
(Note: Henry Pannebacker, of Bebber's Township was granted 622 acres, located at and about the junction of Swamp Creek & Society Run by patent from the Penns on September 1, 1727. Per Bean's History of Montgomery County.)

Following is from Carole Faust on Oct. 4, 2001:
"I believe Frederick and Elizabeth are at Old Goshenhoppen Cemetery
and Solomon and Hannah (Truckenmuller) are at Keely's (not to be confused with Keelor's- Upper Frederick Twp) in Schwenksville or Perkiomen Twp.
Maria Magdalena Kepler is buried at New Goshenhoppen (could be slightly off on this name might be Maria Margaretha or Kepner........)
(Anderson, not sure about burial) John Grimly is probably at Limerick

your Elizabeth and her sister Susanna were believed to have seen a ghost ( named Miller or Muller) on her farm in Frederick Twp who asked them to repay a debt that he had died without seeing to, I think that it was Elizabeth who agreed to do this and the ghost disappeared. the debt was not paid and dad Frederick- called Fritz was found frozen dead in the snow on Christmas evening. and all of the locals whispered about it for centuries."

The REIMER FAMILY
Frederick Reimer, his wife Elizabeth Weynacht, and family of seven children emigrated to the country from Mutterstadt, Germany. It was a small village about 5 miles west of Ludwigshafen on the road to Newstadt. Ludwigshafen is on the left bank of the Rhine in the upper (Southern) Rhine Palatinate, Bavaria opposite Mannheim which is at the junction of the Rhine and Neckar rivers.
They arrived in Philadelphia, on the ship "Thistle of Glasgow"- Calvin Dunlap master- from Rotterdam, August 29, 1730 and were qualified. In "German Pioneers" by Strassburger Hinke in Vol. 1- pgs. 30-32 lists 11B 11C his name appears as "friderig Reiner" but in Vol 2 pgs. 20-23 (?) his signature appears as "friderig Reimer".
In the Reformed Church at Mutterstadt, on the register it appears as Friederich Reimer, also known as Dionysius Friederich Reimer.
According to "The Journals and Papers of David Shultze" Vol 1 pg 217 published by the Schwenkfelder Library at Pennsburg, Pa. in 1952 he was also known locally as "Fritz" Reimer. His death was given as 25 Dec. 1757. Frederick was born @ 1693- died 25 Dec. 1757. His wife Elizabeth Weynacht, born @1695 (date death not known) They were married Oct. 1, 1715. His family at time of arrival in this country was:
(M) [this is a source code explained at end followed by a consecutive number of apparent birth order]
(M1) ELIZABETH born 12-12-1716 (buried) March 18, 1802 married Francis Shunk of Providence Twsp and was the grandmother of Governor R. Shunk.
(P2) SALOME born April 15, 1719 - died Nov. 24, 1800 was married to John Herger

(P7) ANNA MARGARET (MARY) born 1729 - died before ? 1803 married to Jacob Kline 1760
AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL* THE FOLLOWING WERE BORN:

(DP9) JOHN (HANNES) born Nov. 23, 1734 died Jan. 18, 1822 was married to Maria Catharine Kuntz Jan. 23, 1760
(DP10) LUDWIG born Feb. 15, 1736 - died Sept. 10, 1818 was married to Susanne (Ann) Kuntz Sept 11, 1763 dtr of John Valentine Kratz & Ann Clemens of Salford Twsp. (Note: Kratz was actually parent of Anna, wife of Ludwig Sweitzer, not the Kuntz sisters whose parents were George Michael Kuntz and Eva Engelhart.)
(DP11) ELIZABETH born 1737 died April 1821 was married to Solomon Grimley

Old Frederick was evidently a very good farmer - and in those days to be able to transport a family of seven children to America and five months later bought 100 acres of land from Henry Pannebacker and wife on Jan. 22, 1731 - and on August 6, 1736 he bought 41 acres from Joseph Groff - 106 1/2 perches more - which originally was part of the Pennypacker tract. He was an Elder in the Falkener Swamp Reformed Church. They lived in Frederick Township on Society Run (creek).

My ggggg grandfather Johann Valentin Reimer, b. 29 Apr 1714, in Mutterstadt, Germany, arrived 5 Sep 1748 in Pennsylvania. He married Maria Catharina Gaertner, b. 17 Sep 1713, on 17 Sep 1737 in Mutterstadt. He married (2) Anna Margaretha Stey after he came to America. In 1794, he was living in Williams Twp., Northampton Co., PA.
Johann Valentin was the son of Hanns Jacob Reimer (1680-1742), grandson of Joh. Jacob Reimer (1659-1730), and great grandson of Bartholomaus Reimer (1617-1707), all of Mutterstadt. Do you any ancestry for Dionysius Friedrich Reimer?
