Notes for Justus Treude: In the 1850 census they were living with Henry Reath & family.
At the time of his death he was living at 2113 Amber St., Phila., Pa. Birth place-Germany Age 48 He was a Blacksmith by trade. Died from Structure of Urethra. Place of burial, Salem, ME. This does not make sense to me. I tried checking Maine and so far there is no record of his burial.
I also found his "Oath of Allegiance" which reads;
Be it remembered, that on the 11th day of Feb. A.D. 1848, personally appeared before me, Joseph Simon Cohen, Prothomotary of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, in and for the Eastern District, Justus Treude a native of Germany and a subject of the King of Prussia now residing in the County of Philadelphia, aged 29 years, or thereabouts, who being duly sworn according to law, declares and says, That it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the King of Prussia of whom he is now a subject.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereto subscribed my name, and affixed the Seal of said Supreme Court at Philadelphia, this 11th day of Feb.in the year of our Lord, 1848.[JustusTreude-Jenn.FTW]
