Mrs. Mary A. Douglass
"I cannot say, and will not say That she is dead; she is just away. With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand, she has wandered into an unknown land." Mrs. Mary A. Douglass, wife of the late William Douglass, died at her home near Rocheport, Missouri, July 8, 1898. Again the angel of death has visited this fireplace. Only a year ago he called the father and now the mother has been called to join those who have gone before. Truly, it is not all of life to live; Life seems but a moment: we have not time to rest; we cannot stay the great tide of Time, and pause beside its waters, or drink from its fountain, but that we are nearer our goal than when its first sparkling waters greeted us. Nor is it all of death to die. As she approached the river Jordan whose waters make sweet music as it ripples to the ears of those
who died....in Jesus no doubt the husband was watching and waiting to clasp her hand and welcome her "Home". And the daughters of years ago she has met them. Now, not one, but four sing around the "great white throne". "Thou art away from their blessings, their care, their caressing. But, away from
their hearts, thou never shalt be." E.A.
