Notes for WILLIE LEE STOCKTON:
"...In October 1868, Joseph G. Stockton married Miss Eliza Wood, who was born in Boone County, Missouri. Six children were born, Willie, who became the wife of Jack Sharp of Prairie Township, who came to Missouri from Indiana with several other brothers and children at a early age. Jake was a farmer and Constable of Prairie Township for about 30 years. All above are buried in Chapel Grove Cemetery at Clark, Missouri.
"Of this union eleven children were born, one of which was Georgia, born September 24, 1899. Georgia was educated and reared near Clark, Missouri. On May 13, 1916, she married Clarence Robinson of Sturgeon, Missouri.
"Clarence was born on April 26, 1895, west of Sturgeon, Missouri, the youngest of fifteen children whose father was John Taylor Robinson, a farmer and Holiness preacher who dedicated Lick Fork Church and cemetery (which still exist west of Sturgeon, Mo.). John Taylor’s father John Robinson, served in the Union Army in Kentucky. He is buried in the old Sturgeon cemetery. John Taylor came to Sturgeon, with his mother and several other children in a covered wagon during the Civil War from Indiana. John Taylor married Parthina Roberts, both are buried in Lick Fork Cemetery west of Sturgeon, with others of the Robinson family. Clarence and Georgia reared three children, Clarence Clay, of this review, Lillian Loraine, now Mrs. James Pearl Broaddus of Las Vegas, Nevada; Betty Jean, now Mrs. Clyde Burnham of Moberly. Clarence and Georgia live at 910 West End Place, same address for fifty-six years; last May (1976) they celebrated their sixty (sic) anniversary. Clarence worked forty-five years as a sheet metal worker for the Wabash Railroad Company. Clarence Clay was born December 1, 1919, in Moberly. He was educated in Moberly schools including Moberly Junior College. Later Clarence received a B.S., Masters and Certificate of Specialization from the University of Missouri (1973). Clarence C. was also educated as an Embalmer and Funeral Director and received his license to practice in 1948. Clarence C. served in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet as a Radio Technician during World War II, receiving thirteen battle stars and many campaign ribbons. He also served over twenty years as a Chief Personnelman in the Navy Reserve, and later as Sergeant First Class in the Missouri National Guard. Clarence C. taught Mathematics and Science one year, became Principal of Southeast Park Elementary School in 1951, and served in that position for fifteen years. The next ten years he was Director of Audio-visual for Moberly Public Schools, later to return to teaching Mathematics in the Moberly Schools. Clarence C. worked in many organizations as Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Boy and Cub Scouts, Teacher Professional Organizations.
"Clarence C. taught Sunday School for over forty years and served on the Board of stewards many terms for the Trinity United Methodist Church. He is listed in Who’s Who in Missouri Educators of 1975 and Who’s Who in American School Districts in the 1976 edition. “On December 24, 1941, Clarence C. married Frances Madaline Collins of Old Melton, Missouri. Madaline’s father Roy Vivian Collins and Mother Pearline Maratha (Wood) came from Grundy County (near Trenton, Mo.) to the Moberly area in the early twenties. Mr. Collins and his father E. L. Collins were carpenters in the area and Pearline’s father was a farmer in Grundy County. Frances Madaline was born near Paris, Missouri, on December 2, 1923. "She was educated in Moberly schools but attended Madison school the last two years of High School. Madaline also attended Moberly Junior College. She served the Tri-Me Sunday School Class of the Trinity United Methodist Church as an officer for many years. She also served in many other organizations as minor officer or as a volunteer. Of this marriage two children were born, Clarence Orville on February 12, 1946, and Robin Roy, February 17, 1957. Clarence Orville was educated in Moberly schools, Moberly Junior College, University of Missouri, North East State University at Kirksville, Missouri. He served four years in the U. S. Navy as a Communication Technician, serving on Okinawa and Communication Headquarters at Laura, Maryland. He taught Mathematics at Keytesville, Missouri, one year and University of Missouri one year. He now is Systems Analysis for the Mental Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Robin Roy was educated in Moberly schools and at present is a senior at Moberly Junior College. He hopes to become a Chemical engineer. Clarence Clay and Madaline lived at 914 West End Place, Moberly for twenty-five years; for the past eight years have lived just west of Parkwood Estates in Moberly on a forty-five acre farm. Clarence C. and Madaline look forward to retirement and having more time to spend with their friends."
