AMES M. OGAN:
From the History of Johnson County, Kansas City Historical Co., Kansas City, MO, 1881, pp. 892-893:

"JAMES M. OGAN P.O. Windsor, a farmer of Jefferson township, was born in Saline county, Missouri, January 1, 1832. He was married twice. His first wife was Miss R. C. Wood. She died March 2, 1866. Of this union four children were born, one boy and three girls. His second wife was Miss Maria J. Borthick, whom he married May 12, 1870. The fruits of the second marriage were four children, three boys and one girl. The first set of children were: (these were reversed) Cora E. was born June 30, 1871; A. J. was born Jan. 15, 1873; Robert D. was born Aug. 8, 1874; John M. was born April 30, 1876. The second set (first), to date (1881), are; Lora (Laura) F., born Nov. 17, 1856; Margaret J., born Nov. 22, 1858; James W., born Feb. 10, 1861; Lee A., born June 26, 1863. When the cloud of war arose, 1861, he entered the Confederate service under George (Joe?) Shelby, and served that cause until the close of the struggle - 1865. He owns a handsome little farm in section 27, twp 44, range 24. The soil is black limestone, underlaid with coal, and produces excellent crops of corn. His wife is a member of the Christian church. His father was among the pioneer settlers of 1833. He died here in 1875. His mother is still living, able to travel about, and has upwards of 100 grandchildren. The subject of this sketch was one among 13 children, 9 boys and 4 girls. He received his early education from Amos H. Goodwin, a pioneer teacher. He settled here in 1855."

From the Monitor-Index and Democrat, Moberly, Missouri, Thursday evening, January 17, 1929, p. 11, column 5:
"Mrs. Liza Woods (sic) Stockton died at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. She had been in poor health for several years. She is survived by four children all of Clark except Lute Stockton of Red Rock, Oklahoma, who came here Sunday afternoon. The other children are Mrs. Ed Gentry, Mrs. Jake Sharp and Mrs. J. S. Stockton. Mrs. Stockton was 86 years old, and was born and raised near Columbia in Boone County. She married J. G. Stockton October 24, 1867. Their entire married life was spent on a farm adjoining Clark. They both became members of the Methodist Church fifty seven years ago. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon in charge of the Rev. Ben Morris of Kansas City."

From the same newspaper, Saturday Evening, January 19, 1929, p. 1, column 2:
"BURIED AT CLARK
"Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Stockton, who died yesterday at her home in Clark, were held this afternoon at that place. Burial was made in Chapel Grove cemetery. Mrs. Stockton was one of the pioneer residents of the county and was about 86 years old. Surviving her are two sons and a daughter, Joseph Stockton, Jr., of the home place, Henry Stockton of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Mollie Brown of Clark.
"Among those from here who went to Clark to attend the funeral were C. M. Hulen, Probate Judge T. R. Moris (sic), Rich Correll and A. R. Marshall."

OSEPH GREENBERRY STOCKTON:
From Writings by Lucy Fountain Morris:
Joseph G. Stockton, a successful stockman and farmer and the owner of a large farm in Prairie township (Randolph Co.), is a stock holder and one of the organizers of the Exchange Bank of Clark, Missouri. He was born in Prairie township, July 3, 1842, the son of Thomas and America Jacobs Stockton.
He was reared on his father's farm in Randolph County and lived in the country all his life and received his education in the pioneer schools.
More than a half century ago (this was written in 1920), Mr. Stockton settled on his present farm. He has been engaged in general farming and stock raising during all that long period and for many years has been recognized as one of the substantial farmers of this section of the state.
During the Civil War, he went to Illinois and later to Kansas where he was located when President Lincoln was assassinated. Subsequently he returned to Randolph County where he has since been a continuous resident.
In October, 1868, Mr. Stockton was married to Miss Eliza Wood, who was born in Boone County, Missouri. They are buried at Chapel Grove Cemetery, Clark, Missouri. (from History of Randolph County Missouri, by Alexander H. Waller, Historical Publishing Company, Topeka & Cleveland, 1920)

"...In October 1868, Joseph G. Stockton married Miss Eliza Wood, who was born in Boone County, Missouri. Six children were born, Willie, who became the wife of Jack Sharp of Prairie Township, who came to Missouri from Indiana with several other brothers and children at a early age. Jake was a farmer and Constable of Prairie Township for about 30 years. All above are buried in Chapel Grove Cemetery at Clark, Missouri.
"Of this union eleven children were born, one of which was Georgia, born September 24, 1899. Georgia was educated and reared near Clark, Missouri. On May 13, 1916, she married Clarence Robinson of Sturgeon, Missouri.
"Clarence was born on April 26, 1895, west of Sturgeon, Missouri, the youngest of fifteen children whose father was John Taylor Robinson, a farmer and Holiness preacher who dedicated Lick Fork Church and cemetery (which still exist west of Sturgeon, Mo.). John Taylor’s father John Robinson, served in the Union Army in Kentucky. He is buried in the old Sturgeon cemetery. John Taylor came to Sturgeon, with his mother and several other children in a covered wagon during the Civil War from Indiana. John Taylor married Parthina Roberts, both are buried in Lick Fork Cemetery west of Sturgeon, with others of the Robinson family. Clarence and Georgia reared three children, Clarence Clay, of this review, Lillian Loraine, now Mrs. James Pearl Broaddus of Las Vegas, Nevada; Betty Jean, now Mrs. Clyde Burnham of Moberly. Clarence and Georgia live at 910 West End Place, same address for fifty-six years; last May (1976) they celebrated their sixty (sic) anniversary. Clarence worked forty-five years as a sheet metal worker for the Wabash Railroad Company. Clarence Clay was born December 1, 1919, in Moberly. He was educated in Moberly schools including Moberly Junior College. Later Clarence received a B.S., Masters and Certificate of Specialization from the University of Missouri (1973). Clarence C. was also educated as an Embalmer and Funeral Director and received his license to practice in 1948. Clarence C. served in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet as a Radio Technician during World War II, receiving thirteen battle stars and many campaign ribbons. He also served over twenty years as a Chief Personnelman in the Navy Reserve, and later as Sergeant First Class in the Missouri National Guard. Clarence C. taught Mathematics and Science one year, became Principal of Southeast Park Elementary School in 1951, and served in that position for fifteen years. The next ten years he was Director of Audio-visual for Moberly Public Schools, later to return to teaching Mathematics in the Moberly Schools. Clarence C. worked in many organizations as Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Boy and Cub Scouts, Teacher Professional Organizations.
"Clarence C. taught Sunday School for over forty years and served on the Board of stewards many terms for the Trinity United Methodist Church. He is listed in Who’s Who in Missouri Educators of 1975 and Who’s Who in American School Districts in the 1976 edition. “On December 24, 1941, Clarence C. married Frances Madaline Collins of Old Melton, Missouri. Madaline’s father Roy Vivian Collins and Mother Pearline Maratha (Wood) came from Grundy County (near Trenton, Mo.) to the Moberly area in the early twenties. Mr. Collins and his father E. L. Collins were carpenters in the area and Pearline’s father was a farmer in Grundy County. Frances Madaline was born near Paris, Missouri, on December 2, 1923. "She was educated in Moberly schools but attended Madison school the last two years of High School. Madaline also attended Moberly Junior College. She served the Tri-Me Sunday School Class of the Trinity United Methodist Church as an officer for many years. She also served in many other organizations as minor officer or as a volunteer. Of this marriage two children were born, Clarence Orville on February 12, 1946, and Robin Roy, February 17, 1957. Clarence Orville was educated in Moberly schools, Moberly Junior College, University of Missouri, North East State University at Kirksville, Missouri. He served four years in the U. S. Navy as a Communication Technician, serving on Okinawa and Communication Headquarters at Laura, Maryland. He taught Mathematics at Keytesville, Missouri, one year and University of Missouri one year. He now is Systems Analysis for the Mental Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Robin Roy was educated in Moberly schools and at present is a senior at Moberly Junior College. He hopes to become a Chemical engineer. Clarence Clay and Madaline lived at 914 West End Place, Moberly for twenty-five years; for the past eight years have lived just west of Parkwood Estates in Moberly on a forty-five acre farm. Clarence C. and Madaline look forward to retirement and having more time to spend with their friends."
