I am researching my branch of the S. Ga Lott family. There is lots of data on the subject however my branch of the tree seems to have much information. I have data that traces the Lott family back to the middle 1600's.
My grandfather was Wiley Lott born in Coffee County, GA.
Wiley Lott DOB 26 Feb 1964 was born in Coffee County, GA. He was the 9th child of Joel Lott( DOB 6 Feb 1826) DOD(7 Jan 1895 & is buried in Hebron Church Cemetry Coffee County, GA). Beady Vickers was his mother (DOB 12/3/1983) (DOD 17 Jul 1894) Daughter of Jesse Vickers & Rebecca Paulk.
Wiley Lott Married Mary Ann Newburn (daughter of Dryden Newbern & Elizabeth Sirmans on 2 Dec 1883 in Coffee County, GA)
Wiley & Mary Ann lived in S. Ga. and had 5 children
1. Lucy
2. Mattie
3. Lyman
4. Lillie
5. Joe
Then Wiley decided to leave the home site of his parents? Then he took his wife and children and left the area? According to all the research I can find no one ever knew anything else concerning them.
Now here is my problem: My father was Hugh Lott DOB 9-12-1909 and he was born in Quitman GA. When I was 3 years old my parents divorced and my aunts and uncles helped to rear my brother and myself. My oldest aunt told me this story about Wiley and Mary Ann leaving the S. GA area and traveling all around N. FL- GA? Along the way Mary Ann dies and Wiley marries at least 2 more times. There was no mention of the other step mothers by name. That may have been an error on my part, but I was only 3-4 years old.
When Wiley arrived in the Columbus, GA area he was accompanied by the following Aunts & Uncles of mine, all of which are now deseased.

As you can see if you look at what is recorded in several books concerning the Lott's of S. Ga. you can see that some of the names of my aunts & uncles match and some do not. What I think might account for these differences is: maybe there were children who died and the others did not tell me about them? Or maybe they were other names that I do not know about( like a second name) What I do remember is that my aunt Mattie telling me that there were 2 seperate mothers to the children, however I did not ask the names. Now I know what a mistake that was.
What I would like to do is to try to contact some of the other relatives of Joel and Beady Lott, the Hiram & Elizabeth (Sirmans) Newburn family to see if I can fill in these cavernous holes that are in my family.
According to some of the researchers that I have talked to "it seems like Wiley just vanished". Now we all know that no one just can vanish, they may not communicate with families and loved ones but they are still around.
The thing that really complicates all this information gathering is that all my aunts, uncles and parents are now deseased.
