The Hughes' of Virginia Beach

I am currently researching quite a few branches of my family - Hughes' of WV and Ohio, plus Blevins of WV and Ashe Co, NC. Also researching Spinks' of WV and VA, and Chapman's of WV and VA. They are from around Loudoun Co, Frederick Co, Clarke Co, and Jefferson Co. I have drawn a blank on the Spinks (my maiden name), I can go back to Thomas and Henry in Loudoun Co, but can't find Henry's father, born about 1794 I think. Records are hard to find, some burned and others moved to other places.

My husband's family I can go back to his great-grandfather, Richard Hughes in Little Hocking, Ohio. He came to US via Canada when he was 19 years old (1868). He married in Little Hocking Cynthia Bartlett, daughter of John Bartlett. They had four sons. I have since learned his wife died and he remarried and had a daughter, Helen Hughes. So, I am still "digging" to find more answers. I know Richard came from South Wales. Have to find out how to go about looking for him in England????
