The Hughes-Owens Family

Those surnames that are in Lower Case are a Wife who's Maiden name has not yet been found


I am currently researching the Owens,Hughes,Godbeer, Cheriton and Meacham familys.

The Owens Family: Although I am convinced that the Owens family comes from Wales, I have only been able to trace the family back to Portsmouth, Hampshire. Daniel Owens was a mariner who married a Portsmouth Girl called Mary Ann Twinney.

The Hughes Family: The Hughes's are my Fathers Mother's side of the family.

The Godbeers,Cheritons and Meachams are on my Mother's side of the family.

Godbeer Family - I have have now researched this family back to John Godbeer, born Morchard Bishop Sept 1715

Meacham Family - now traced back to Abraham Meacham, born White Saunton, Somerset, abt 1792

Cheriton Family - traced back as far as 1797, Robert Cheriton, born Morchard Bishop, Devon
