I'm researching the HUGHES family of Bay County, MI.
1st. Generation:
John Hughes b.1844 in Brilley, Herefordshire, England son of Evan Hughes and Jane Owens "married"(?)Harriet(Hattie)Bane/Beane ca. 1867, they had two children, Claude Bishop Hughes,
my ancestor, b.14 Sep.1869 in Bay Co. MI, and Frank L. Hughes b.Jan.1868. John does not appear on the 1870 census with Harriet and the children. Harriet was the daughter of Robert BANE/BEANE and Mary Ann BLAKE, both from England also, and appears in the Bay County Census, 1870, living with her parents, siblings, and her sons. A John Hughes, age 25, b. in Engl. is listed that year in Tuscola, Co. MI.
2nd Generation:
Claude HUGHES married Musetta WALKER, ca. 1895, in Bay County.
She was the daughter of George WALKER(b.Aug 31, 1844 in Tough,
Aberdeenshire, Scotl.) and Elizabeth Grace CHAPMAN (b. Jan. 1851
in Tilsonburg ONT, Canada). George was the son of James WALKER
and Ann MITCHELL, married in TOUGH, Oct. 8, 1842.
Any information on these families or individuals in Michigan, Ontario, England, Scotland, or Ireland would be
appreciated and I will help you in any way I can.
