About Our Family Research


Robert Houston was born in Kentucky in 1793, moved with his family to Ohio at a young age. He married Mary Brown, daughter of James Brown on 25 Dec 1827 in Miami Co., Ohio. Robert and his family crossed the plains to Oregon arriving in Linn Co., Oregon in 1848. They settled in the Knox Butte area on Donation Land Claims. Robert served as the first justice of peace in Linn Co., and was active in promoting early schools in the area.
