Notes for Elizabeth Anna Baird: First Church of Christ, Scientist "In the year 1908 a small band of earnest students of Christian Science met for the advancement of their spiritual growth and organized a Christian Science Society. The first services were conducted in a home, then in the old Masonic Building on Front street, also in other downtown locations, and later in the Knights of Pythias hall. In 1917 the members took steps to organize a church which was incorporated under the laws of the state.
