Notes for Charles Monroe "Pete" Ahart: Willard McDowell Subject: Charles Monroe"Pete"Ahart Message: Charles Monroe Ahart, eldest child of Abel B. and Nancy Ann Boone Ahart, was born in Camden County, Missouri, near Linn Creek, Jan. 9, 1885, and died Sunday, Oct. 23, 1960, at his home in Boiivar, Mo., at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 14 days.
As a child he moved with his family to Polk County. His entire life was spent in Missouri.
As a young man he gave his life to Christ and was baptized, although he never united with any church.
In 1907 he was united in marriage to Dora Ellen Fisher, who preceded him in death Dec. 21, 1953.
To this union eight children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. Lloyd Warren and Iva Fay each died at the age of three years. Mrs. Eva Lee Allison died in January [Jan. 22], 1947.
He is survived by one son, Willard Ahart of Bolivar; four daughters, Mrs. Lula Bond of Aldrich, Mrs. Ina Mae Barker of Bolivar, Mrs. Minnie McDowell of Kaiser, Mo., and Mrs. Opal Wilson of Warrensburg, Mo.; also 23 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Piper of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mrs. Azalea [Azilee] Bewley of Bolivar, Mrs. Stella Simpson of Polk, and Mrs. Alta Wilson of Bolivar; and one brother, Roy Ahart, of Modesto, Calif.
Funeral services were held at 10 o?clock Thursday morning, Oct. 27, in the Campbell Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Freddie Bill Glazebrook officiating. Burial was in Payne Cemetery, under direction of the Pitts Funeral Home of Bolivar. Pallbearers were Don Wilson, Lawrence Ahart, Bradford Ahart, Bobby Simpson, Paul Dooley, and Junior Simpson.
