| My name is Brandy J. Hurtado, daughter of Amy L. Wiedemer. I have been working on my family tree for about 4 years. In that short amount of time I feel now that I have enough to show to family and friends. August Wiedemer was born in Baden, Germany on October 3rd, 1833. His passing came on October 11th, 1900. August came to the United States in 1863. He was 30 years old. August was in the Civil War from April to October 1865. He was in the 9th Regement of the Illinois Calvary. He was naturalized in Chicago in 1868. He married Caroline Baker October 24th, 1867 in Chicago. Caroline was born October 6th, 1846 in Alsace-Lorraine, a territorial entity created by the German Empire in 1871 after the annexation of most of Alsace and parts of Lorraine in the Franco-Prussian War, also known as Reichsland. She was 14 when she came to the United States in 1860. She died March 10th, 1929. We think they must have lived in Iowa for a time because Frank was born there according to their records. They came to Sharon, Wisconsin about 1876. Rented a farm, then bought the homestead February 21st, 1881. It was 60A for $2,400. Grandma sold the farm to Will October 31st, 1930. They are buried in the North Sharon Cemetary in Sharon, Wisconsin, which is about a mile from the farm. Most of Frank's, Will's, and Pete's families are buried there along with Alice. |
