Upon opening my father's army trunk, I found a window to the history of my family. I remember stories referring to ancesters dating back to colonial times in America; references to Irish and Scot kinship. With the untimely death of my only sister, I felt a strong need to seek out and understand my family's ties and history.
What I have discovered so far: William John Sloan, Jr. was born in East Orange, NJ on April 1, 1909. His mother, Ethel Madeline Stevens was born on March 17, 1880 in Albany, New York. She married William John Sloan, born August 10, 1868 in Philadelphia, PA.
