my great-grandfather, Albert Balme.He immigrated to the US from France 26 September 1916 and in Dec 1917 enlisted in the US Army.He went from enlisted to officer in 9 months and was later honorably discharged as a 2nd Lt in Feb of 1919.He had two war service chevrons, a blue and a silver. William lived in Detroit for 57 years.He was an iron molder at the Jackson and Round Co. in Detroit for 2 years, then worked at Parke-Davis pharmaceuticals, working his way from laborer to extract maker to pharmacist to foreman.Later he worked for the Hupp Motor Car Co in Detroit.He lived at 4030 Sheridan in Detroit in 1925.He was my gggrandfather. - Albert and Nota Balme (601 KB)
