* The Hurley-Shepherd Family Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I'm searching both my wife's family and my own. Almost all of ourancestors came from Europe before 1800 (a few before 1700) and moved
slowly west as the Indians were displaced and the early settlers moved
in. Most started on the upper east coast and finally settled in the mid
West. The Hurleys came from NJ and the related family names involved
are Landis, Dukes, Saylor, Swigart, Bennett, Beachly and Beeghly.
The Shepherds were in Kentucky in 1800 and related family names are
Coe, Inskeep, Bradley, Shipley, Reed, Miller and Bartholomew. I would
be happy to exchange any information I have.

Currently I'm struggling with three seemingly insoluble problems.
1. I'm looking for records of Timothy Herlihy(Hurley) in early NJ (1700-
1730). All I have found is a reference in "This Old Monmouth of Ours"
and a listing of Timothy as a debtor in the estate of Lawrence van Hook
in 1724.
2. I can't find the parents of William S. Coe b 1800 in PA. I think he was
the son of Joshua of Washington Co PA but I can't prove it.
3. I don't find the first wife or parents of William P. Shepherd b 1800 in
Ky. He lived most of his life in Adams Co Oh.
Help with these three problems would be greatly appreciated.
