GALLATIN COUNTY WITH HIS PARENTS AROUND 1806 HE LATER MOVED TO SWITZERLAND
COUNTY INDIANA AND ABOUT 1840 CAME BACK TO KENTUCKY AND SETTLED IN BOONE COUNTY
WHERE HE LIVED OUT HIS LIFE.

This indenture made and entered into this 25th day August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one between Vincent Lewis Executor of Thomas Lewis deceased of Nelson County, Sally Davis of Gallatin county by John Scott their attorney in fact, and the said John scott in his own right of the one part and Phillip Cayton of the other part .That the aforesaid parties of the first part for an in consideration of the sum of seventy two dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these prensnts doth grant bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Phillip Cayton a certain tract of land situate lying and being on the waters of Sugar Creek being part of lot No. 55 as marked on the platt of May Banister of survey 22.283 acres and bounded as follows Viz: Begining at two Sugar trees and white oak S. E. corner of said lot No.55 thence N.10 W.107 poles to two Beeches white oak and elm. Thence S. 71 W. 108 poles to two Sugar trees and beeches. Thence S. 14 E. 106 poles to two Sugar trees and stake. Thence S.71 E. 100 poles to the begining . Containing by survey seventy two acres. to have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and premsises unto the aforesaid Phillip Cayton his heirs or assigns to their any proper use and behalf forever. And the aforesaid parties of the first part their heirs executrors of administrators the aforesaid and tract of land and premisses unto the aforesaid Philip Cayton his heirs or assigns against the claim or claims of themselves their heirs executors or administrators of any person claiming in through or under them that warrant and forever defend and shall be under no respsponsibility as to the claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever.
