1713; Captain of Militia and Sheriff of Richmond Co. Newman owned a plantation called "Folly Neck," located between Totuskey and Richardson's Creeks. His will provided "all my land between Totuskey and Richardson's Creeks with one third profits of mill to my daughter. To Winfred the silver spoons that were her grandmother's, the late Mrs. Gwin... To my sister Beckwith and my friends Tayloe, Samuel Peachy, William Brockenbrough, and Luke Milner, one mourning ring, and to my son William, all the rest of my estate." (J.B. Offley)
