William Cull (son of James Cull and Eleanor Royall) was born 1798 in Ramsgate,Kent, and died date unknown. He married Ann on Abt. 1826.
Notes for William Cull: According to he 1841 Census, William was a shoemaker, living at 98 High Street in Ramsgate, and they were still there at the time of the 1851 census; when William was a boot and shoe maker employing 4 men and 2 women. In this year, he was 53 years old, his wife Ann was 52. Their daughters Ann 23 years old and Elizabeth, 17 years old were living at home,and were Dressmakers, John was just 15 years, a Draper, and George James was 10 and going to school. In the old days, the homes on High Street offered a spectacular view of Ramsgate harbour and the ocean.

As you can see from the enclosed pages of "Pigot's 1840-Ramsgate" , the Cull family is very well represented. Elizabeth and John(above) probably worked for one of the local businesses. Hardres Street runs perpendicular to High Street. Both are obviously commercial areas.
Ramsgate is the starting point for English Channel swimmers, and when I was a youngster, my Uncle Edward George Hutton had a photgraph showing three( or was it four) men wearing old style swim suits, I am sure they were of the Cull family, and I often wonder if they competed either in local events or across the channel!
