1. MARQUIS D.1 MILLER was born August 23, 1810 in New York shore of Lake Champlain, and died February 21, 1891 in Smithfield, Cass Township, Fulton County, Illinois. He married SUSANNAH WACHTEL January 03, 1839 in Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois. She was born January 01, 1816 in Worthington Township, Richland County, Ohio, and died December 21, 1899 in Smithfield, Cass Township, Fulton County, Illinois.

When he was a young man, he was a raftsman on the Erie Canal. He voted for Andrew Jackson, (1832), before leaving New York State. Upon arriving in Fulton County, Illinois, he found work as a Cooper and purchased 82 acres of land, paying cash. The lambskin deed is still in existance. Cooper & Farmer; Could read & write; was said to be quite articulate. Education: in local schools in New York
Religion: M. E. Church from 1841 until his death in 1891.
