John Novak emigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia (Austria-Hungary) in the early 1910. His fiance, Mary, followed after him in 1911. They married on September 17, 1911 at Saint George's Church on 96th and Ewing Avenue on the southeast side of Chicago. They had nine children. They lived in Chicago on East 95th Street. John was a pattern maker for Standard Oil in Whiting, Indiana.

John and Mary were my grandparents.

John's brother Louis also emigrated from Slovenia. He married Angeline Cerar. They lived on 94th and Ewing Avenue. They had two sons, Louis Jr. and William. Both Louis Jr. and William died young, although William had a son, William Jr.

I am researching information about them before they came to the United States. I am also interested in finding out about any other of their family members who may have emigrated to the United States and settled in a city other than Chicago.
