      He furnished food with remuneration.

      William Basham, patriot, paid for furnishing supplies.

Betty Mae's application was rejected because the DAR does not show Polly/Mary Basham as being an "established line in our index of Revolutinary Ancestors."

William's will is on record at the Breckenridge Cty., KY courthouse. Reads as follows:

      In the name of God Amen, I, William Basham of the county of Breckenridge and state of Ky. being of sound mind and disposing memory, and knowing that it is appointed for man once to die, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. I do it more particularly because of having children among whom the laws of my country would authorize distribution of my property contrary to my wish, will and insure the names of those children are as follows towit:
      My daughter Elizabeth Meadowes, Lucy Simmons, Celia Richardson, Rhoady Payne, Peggy Crume, Polly Basham wife of Berry Basham, and my son Uriah Basham, and my grand children Nancy Basham and Polly Basham, children of my deceased son Cary Basham: to the above named children and grand children I leave nothing excepting my wish for their prosperity, having heretofore given to them and the father of my aforesaid grandchildren all that I have ever intended to give them.
      [ He then leaves everything to his son Barnett Basham who is also to take care of his mother as long as she lives, and fifty acres and the place he lives to his son-in-law Stephen Nottingham - husband of youngest daughter Nancy. ]
