July 6, 2009 Oh, boy!! I am sorry for my in-action on this site. No excuse, just could not get to it!! Well, it has been busy. Last year, 2 new hips! Ya, 1 replacement went bad, so ANOTHER one was put in! It made for an extreemly long summer. Then, in October, my sister Becky's death. It just doesn't seem possible. As of Jan.1, I am vice-president of the Clan MacGillivray Society in the U.S.A. Remember, my mom was a MacGillivray! It has been fun participating in the various Scottish events around the mid-west. Yes, I do have a kilt in the family tartan. Now, for Hyde stuff. The DNA study is really starting to pay off. So far, there are 2 more family groups that line up with our [ Hiram ] DNA, and another one, the first results look very good. All these Hyde's came from beginnings in Kentucky and Indiana. I now believe that Ansels first wife, Hannah, died in childbirth with Hiram, and he was left with other family or friends when Ansel got remarried. It will take a bunch of research to line this out, but with new family members to aid in the search, it may be a little easier. If the additional DNA test comes back the same as the others, we will have found Hiram's father, ANSEL!! Without going into a lot of confusing scientific terms, Jay Hydes numbers match the others PERFECTLY. It seems as though mine mutated a bit. Oh, well, thats me!! I will update all when the rest of our " hopefull " new cousins results are complete. Keep your fingers crossed! Check out some new photos- good stuff!! Love to all! Dan Aug. 6, 2009 Well, gang, the tests are in. Jay matched Jim 36 out of 37. Ibelieve that this Ansel of Indiana is OURS!! I will post a photo of his stone that we took last weekend in Perry County, Indiana. Ansel had 12 children by who we believe was his second wife, Mary Miller. This is like starting all over again! So much research to do, but thats what we love! Don't forget, the reunion is October 3, at Prospect Baptist Church, Niangua, Mo. See ya'll there!! Luv to all, Dan May 4, 2010 Holy Smokes!! Has it been that long? Yup, I guess so. So much to update. We now have 7 Hyde lines joined with DNA! Amazing. We are now looking for the common ancestor for us all. It may be Charles, or a brother, or it may go back to England. I hope to post as many of our different family ancestral photos here as I can get. The similarities are STRIKING. Tom even said when he saw John D's photo, " Who are those people that look like my family?!" Pretty amazing. Another update concerning moms side. I am now the President of the Clan MacGillivray Society, U.S.A. Sounds intimidating, huh? It is keeping me busy, and we have also started a MacGillivray DNA study to see if we can get similar results in our Scottish " Clan" family. Thats gonna be it for now. PLEASE stay in touch, let me know how every one is. Luv to all, Dan 8/8/11 Boy, howdy, how time gets away! Two new goodies for all of you. First, another child added to Austin H. Hyde line.Benjamin Harrison Hyde, and decendants! A bunch! And, another "lost" brother has been found! I will reveal his name at the October reunion to all. I was about in tears when this new info came falling into my lap! Catch ya'll later. Dan 2/22/13 I apologize for my inactivity. Health issues! There is now a new Hyde genealogy site found at http:/hydegenealogy.com Give it a look. Also, the "new" info is that Jasper has been found. His FULL name was Pleasant Jasper Hyde of Texas! He was married to an Elizabeth Hightower! Great info from our :new" cousin in Texas Dan
