I am the eldest son of George Dominick Hyland, he was born in Dublin, Ireland on 21.7.1900 in the Rotunda Hospital and baptised in St. Mary's Cathedral. The family home at the time was 57 Dominick St. I believe his father was John Hyland, (a coachmaker, who later might have become an insurance agent) his mother wasMary Teresa (nee Murray) George had a brother named Patrick and a brother named Richard, whose family lived in the Crumlin area of Dublin during the second world war, Richard himself served in the R.E.M.E. I believe George also had a sister named Bridie? there may have been others. George served in the British Royal Navy from August 1918 until 1922. His service number was SS9533, he was a gunnery instructor. He left home at an early age and posibly joined the Merchant Navy. Or he may have joined the Merchant Navy after his service in the Royal Navy. Any information on his family or ancestors would be much appreciated. Also any information on the Brownings or Mudds, believed of Leyton London E 10. | The Family of John Hyland & Mary Teresa Murray,Dublin Updated July 13, 2002 |
