The Ianna Famliy from Italy to Australia.

Updated January 6, 2009

To my knowledge the Ianna family first came to Australia on the 4th. of April 1895,
on board the ship S.S.Sachsen arriving in Sydney.

My great-grand-father Costante came with his wife Catarina {Zanin} and his father Angelo Ianna
also the four eldest children Angelo, Pietro{my grandfather}, Teresa, Domenico.

Catarina's sister Angelina {Zanin} and husband Antonio Pezzuti arrived early in 1880 via the Marquis de Rays expedition to Port Brenton.
They settled in New Italy NSW, Australia as did Costante and his family.
Costante and Catarina had another five children Fortunato, Costante, Maria, Angelina, Antonio.

My gr/gr/grandfather Angelo Ianna died 1914 in Lismore, NSW, Australia.
My gr/grandfather Costante Ianna died in 1918 in Lismore also. My gr/gr/gr/grandparents Maria and Goivini Ianna I am still following up on.

The family came from a town called Budoia in Italy.

I am also doing research on my mums side of the family THORLEY and GOOLEY, so far on the THORLEY side I have been able to go back seven generations, taking me to STAFFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND.

On the GOOLEY side of the family I have gone back four generations taking me to TIPPERARY, IRELAND.

The names I have so far in my family are IANNA, ZANIN, RAISON, OLIVIERI, THORLEY, GOOLEY, McNAMARA, CHADBONE.

I would like to acknowledge that some of the information on the IANNA family was made possible through the long hours of research and time put in by Kevin and Marguerite Ianna without which I had nowhere to start. Thanking you both.
