Posted Feb 1997 I am looking for the Roger Ide and Sarah Ellen Fleming Ide family of Manito, Illinois. These are my husband's g-g-grandparents. They were married on Dec. 29, 1864 in Illinois.
Roger was born at Glenhaven, NY on Aug. 3, 1837. He died on Mar. 12, 1923 at Manito, IL. Sarah, the daughter of Thomas Fleming and Melissa Walker, was born on Mar. 28, 1842 at Exeter, Scott Co., IL. She died on July 6, 1930 at Manito, IL.
Roger and Sarah had 7 children: 1) Arthur M. Ide, b. 1866; 2) Flora E. Ide, b. 1869 (m. Zimmerman); 3) Eva Ida Ide, b. 1871 (m. W.L. Scott); 4) Oscar R. Ide, b. 1874; 5) Myrtle M. Ide, b. 1877 (m. Cole); 6) Eugene Fleming Ide, b. 1881 (m. Ruby Adele Davis); 7) Clarence H. Ide, b. 1883.
Clarence had a son named Rex Ide who married Lola ?. Rex and Lola's son was named Roger. Eugene and Ruby came to California in the '20s after some years in Wyoming. They settled in Oakland, CA. Other Ides came to the area as well, but the family has lost track of the ties.
These Ides may be related to the infamous William Brown Ide of "Bear Flag Revolt" fame in California's early years before statehood. William's family lived within 30 miles of our Illinois Ides for a time in the 1840s.
Are their any other Illinois Ide researchers out there? I have information on Ides from a book about Simeon Ide of New England, but that predates the Illinois group by some generations.
I would love to hear from you.
