I am searching for information about Captain Charles H. Hewitt who married Catherine Isabella Salisbury in March 18,1854 in Westfield, Tioga County probably in PA, and died in a prison camp in the South. They had two sons Henry Salisbury Hewitt born Dec. 20 1854 (Westfield, Tioga County, Louisiana) who married Cynthia Cosert and Frank Hewitt born later who married Cynthia Cosert's sister.
I also want to know about the Coserts. They lived in Min and came to Oregon in 1887. Henry and Cynthia daughter Nelly was born in 1879 in Sherman Minn and their son Charles Henry Hewitt was born in 1887 in St. Paul Minn.

I have Catherine Isabella's family bible which goes back to her grandfather, Smith Salisbury born Dec. 16, 1781 in Glouchester, RI, who married Azuba Wright from Belchertown NH. Catherine's father was a minister Ludowick Alonzo Salisbury (b 26 May 1811) who married Elizabeth Milne born 9 March 1813 in Dundee Scotland.

I have my husband's father's family (Ilyin) back to 800 in Russia, his mother's family (Boratynski) to 1600 in Poland, and my mother's family (Edgars) to 1745 in Scotland. My mother's grandmother's maternal great grandfather (John Mathieson) was even a covenator and was sent to the US in 1650. William and Mary allowed him to return to Scotland, but only the family dog recognized him. Here in the USA wouldn't you think it would have been easier to trace Hewitt and Salibury (both families were early settlers in the USA?

Please help me.
