Find Family

* The Imhoffs of Plantersville, Texas*

Updated September 5, 2000

I am just beginning a genealogical search for my ancestral family tree. My Imhoff relatives came from Germany, near Heidelberg. I know that my great great grandfather was Johannes who married Amelia Keenan. Johannes was the youngest of 12 boys. An ancestral grandmother - perhaps a great, great, great, great is supposed to have drowned in the river Rhine. This story was passed down through the generations. Ten of the older boys supposedly came early on to the US and landed in a northern port. An 11th boy was also drowned in the Rhine and Johannes stayed in Germany, married, and had most of his family before comint to Texas and settling in Montgomery County with a daughter who had married an Adam Shurtz who had received a Spanish or Mexican land grant of 100 acres of land.

If anyone has any information on any of the 10 earlier immigrants, I would appreciate any thing you could/would share with me.
