Notes for H
ESTER RUSH:
[Barton, Melanie, see OE address book]
A record which may be relevant: in a book entitled "Record of Pennsylvania Marriages Prior to 1810, Vol. 1, re: Christ Church, Philadelphia", p. 223, "1743, June 2 - Rush, John to Wilmouth Camp." From the A. Bertha McGeehan Collection is : "1743, John Rush m. unknown, Lower Dublin Township, Philadelphia" and "1752 Administrations of Philadelphia; Wilmoth Rush, widow of John; money for 2 children of John; Thomas Rush mentioned; Crispen Collet, Byberry, Bond' and "1756, Wilmoth Stuart m., by 1756, to Daniel Stuart."
The name Wilmouth has definitely been handed down. My grandmother, Fay, used it as the name for my aunt, Wilmoth Emmor Moulton. Given the year of birth as 1752 for Hester, I cannot help believing that this John Rush and Wilmoth Camp are her parents.
I have an extensive Rush family genealogy but lack one link to conect our Rush with Benjamin Rush, "the signer", through Silas Crispin and Hester Holme, as well as the Penn family. If John Rush is the son of Hester Crispin Rush, and I think he is, then there is much information available on the Rush line. Available information goes back to John Rush and Susanna Lucas, from England in the 1600s. Holmes, Penn and Crispen go back even farther.

[GAI-NOTE] William Lowery ALEXANDER married to Sophia (ERWIN):
Some sources (Butner and Martin in particular) list a William as son of Henry and Hester (Rush) ALEXANDER. Offerings, available via internet from several other sources, seem fairly conclusive that Henry and Hester (Rush) ALEXANDER DID NOT have a child, William. It appears that this William is William Lowery ALEXANDER, son of Joseph Lowery and Margaret (Tate) ALEXANDER of Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. This William, who married Sophia (Erwin) on June 7, 1808, was born October 8, 1771 in Shippensburg, PA and died August 26, 1850 in Burke County, NC. These two sources, among others, are available: Kristen Ingram <authorlady@earthlink.net> and Donnie Neisler <dneisler@cox-internet.com>. Nothing in our personal family lore indicates that there was a William as son of Henry and Hester (Rush) ALEXANDER.
