JAMES BUCKLEY'S WILL

27 Sept. 1787. Proved by two Subg. Wits., William Henderson & James Henderson. Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Recorded in Deeds and Wills, No. 11, 1780-1820. pp. 173/174

In the Name of God Amen, the twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred eighty and seven I James Buckley of Pittsylvania County in Virginia being sick and weake of body but of perfect sound and memory thanks be Almighty for the same but calling to mind the uncertainty of this life knowing that it is appointed for all Men once for to die and being desirous to Settle things in order before my departure do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (That is to say) First and pricipally I recommend my soul unto almight God that gave it me and body to the Earth in hopes of a glorious resurrection at the last day in and through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Redeemer, and as touching my Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God of his great demise and dispose of the same in the following manner Viz Impremis, I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Marey and my Son James vuckley and Jesse Buckley my whole Estate Land and moveables, that is to say, are so Five that they do make theire equals and be it in consideration to my Son John Buckley if he will make over the Deed of Harness Land to my Estate then, Item, I five unto him the place wheare he now lives on to him and his heirs forever of this my las Will and testament and I do heareby utterly revoke and disavowe and make voide wills and testaments I Witness whereof I have heare unto set my hand and Seal the day and yeare first above written.

At a court held for Pittsylvania County the 21st day of January 1788 - The within last Will and Testament of James Buckley deceased was proved by the oaths of the witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded An afterward to wit, At a Court held for the said County the 15th day of September in the Year aforesaid a Certificate for obtaining Letters of Administration of the Estate of the said James Buckley dec. with the Will annexed is granted Mary Buckley, who made oath according to Law, and with Benjamin Lankford and Joshua Stone her securities entered into Bond and Acknowledged the same According to Law.
