With his second wife, Emma Duthoy, he had 14 children. Three of their children died as an infant or very young child. The remaing children reached adulthood. The five sons, Camille, Alois, Hector, Ernest and Octavis (Octaaf) emigrated to the United States around 1920. The sisters remained in Belgium.
The brothers who came to the United States settled in and around Ghent, Minnesota.
