My name is Hal Irving, I was born 11-21-1930 at Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio. Lois Linder Irving was born at Cheney, Spokane Co., Washington on 10-24-1928. I have two son's, Steven Irving of Phoenix, AZ; and K. Daniel of Chesapeake, VA. The boys have produced 5 Grand Children and two Great Grand Children. My parents were William Wilson Irving 2-26-1902 at Lexington, Fayette Co., KY, and Ruth Rainwater born 9 May 1901 at Mintonville, Casey Co., KY. Lois's parents were Thomas Albert Linder, born Sprague, Lincoln Co. WA in 1888 and Carrie E Stevenson born 1876 at Cheney, Spokane Co., WA.
My family names in addition to Irving and Rainwater are: Rogers (Nelson Co., KY); Bush, (Clark Co., KY); Long, (Fayette Co., KY). The Irving name came from Dumfriesshire, Scotland with a Thomas Irving born 1839 Annan Parish, SCT, in 1859 and Naturalized at Cannelton, IN in 1864. He married Letitia Long at Lexington about 1869. The Bush name came from Virginia, as far as I have searched, with a "Neptune" John Bush who came to Jamestown, VA in 1619 on the ship "Neptune", he was so-called as there was another John Bush in Jamestown at the same time. I have not found a prior location for the Long family, and all the information I have started with a Samuel Long Sr. around 1800 in Lexington, Fayette, KY. The Rainwaters came from England to VA about 1700 with later families migrating to North Carolina, then Kentucky.
My wife's family was through Thomas Albert Linder and the Linder Family. The Linder's have been traced to the 1500's in Switzerland and Germany. Thomas' Father was Robert Linder born 1853 in Jasper Co., Iowa, and his father coming from Illinois and Kentucky. The Grandmother of Lois was a Mary Elizabeth Colyar, and the Colyar family made the same Iowa, Illinois, from Kentucky migration. The Maternal line was Stevenson and has been traced to Canada in 1834 and to Ireland prior to that time, the related lines are Dawson, Fitzhugh, Van Meter.
