Welcome! Are you part of my family?I am researching all sides of my family, as well as my husband's: The Whipple family came to Ipswich, Massachusetts, from Boking, England, in the mid-1600's. We descend from Matthew, brother of John. The family moved on to Vermont, and then came to Iowa in the late 1800's.This is my mother's family.I have many names and dates for the descendant's of Matthew. The Evenson family was from Norway. Each generation, as was the custom, took the father's first name and added 'son' or 'datter'.My earliest information starts with Aslak Olsen in approx. 1725.From Buskerud, Norway, came his great grandson, Stener, landing at the the Port of New York, travelling to Wisconsin, settling in Minnesota. This is my father's family. The Hovelson family also came from Norway.I am looking for more information about them.Hover and his brother, John, settled in the vicinity of Osage, Iowa.John married Jane Paulson, in 1871.It was a double-ring ceremony with his brother, Hover, and Sarah Ellen James.John and Jane were my grandmother, Laura's, parents. She married into the Whipple family...my grandfather, Herman F. Whipple.Their daughter, Sybil Marie, is my mother.Sybil married into the the Evenson family...my father, Melvin Evenson. We are just starting to research my husband's families....the Irwins (Scottish) and the Planck's.My husband, James R. Irwin, is from West Virginia. Let's share information!
