(text) Clayton, August 13. Mrs. Elizabeth Ivey, 98,one of the oldest residents of this section died at 8:45 this morning at the home of her son, William, on Calumet Island. Mrs. Ivey was born at Fairfax, Ont., July 5, 1832, a daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Thompson McDonald. She spent her early life on a farm between Fairfax and Landsdowne,Ont., and when she was about 35 years of age moved to Ivy Lea, Ont., where she met John Ivey. They were married at Gananoque in 1860. The village of Ivy Lea was named after the Ivey family. After the death of her husband in 1918, Mrs. Ivey moved to the home of her son on Calumet Isand He is caretaker of the Charles G. Emory estate. She attended the St. Mary's Catholic Church in this village. She is survived by five sons, William Ivey of Calumet Island, John Ivey, Alexandria Bay, Thomas Ivey, Alexandria Bay, Albert Ivey, Ivy Lea, and Frederic Ivey, Alexandria Bay; two sisters, Mrs. John Donovan, Prescott, Ont., and Mrs. Patrick Dier of Brockville, Ont., and one brother, Thomas McDonald of Ivy Lea. Funeral services will be held from St. Mary's church here Saturday morning at 10, with the Rev. Father G. E. Racette officiating. Furial will be made in St. Cyril's cemetery of Alexandria Bay.
