This will be the beginning of my Family History initially researched in the early 1980's. I acquired my information firstly from the Family Bible and chatting to relatives. I also researched at Bolton Library, Wigan Library and various Record Offices.

I will add more information as I get to grips with Family Tree Maker.

    This is a postcard from Westhoughton depicting the story of a local farmer whose cow's head was stuck in the gate. He obviously preferred to lose the cow by chopping its head off rather than lose the gate!!
